Landfill Site Attendant

Overview

GFL Environmental is seeking a diligent Site Attendant/Spotter to join the team at Edmonton, Alberta. The role involves ensuring the landfill operates efficiently, safely, and maintains a tidy environment.

Responsibilities

• Guide commercial vehicles entering and leaving the site with care and efficiency.
• Maintain clear communication with scale attendants, drivers, and heavy equipment operators.
• Actively engage with safety training and uphold GFL’s safety standards.
• Immediately notify supervisors of any hazards or incidents and halt unsafe practices.
• Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Handle general cleanliness of site areas including tip floors, ramps, bay doors, roadways, scale zones, buildings, fence lines, and parking lots.
• Take part in monthly facility inspections.
• Be ready to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Wear all mandated personal protective equipment in line with company policies and legal requirements.
• Assist in upkeep and servicing of heavy machinery as needed.
• Lift items up to 40 lbs when necessary.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Basic understanding of operating equipment like wheel loaders, forklifts, and skid steers.
• Self-motivated with ability to multitask in a high-paced workplace.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
• Ability to follow both written and spoken instructions accurately.
