Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled IRMS Laboratory Technician II to join our commercial chemistry lab based in Dunedin. As part of a collaborative team, you will manage the preparation, processing, and analysis of samples using isotope ratio mass spectrometry, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and data integrity throughout laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process samples for isotope ratio mass spectrometry, including subsampling, grinding, extraction, and weighing, strictly following laboratory protocols.
- Operate and maintain elemental analyser isotope ratio mass spectrometry (EA-IRMS) instrumentation, including troubleshooting and performance tracking.
- Record and manage sample data accurately using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Ensure adherence to ISO 17025 standards and laboratory quality systems, documentation, and best practices.
- Plan and prioritize tasks to work independently and contribute effectively in a fast-paced team setting.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with laboratory and operational colleagues to fulfill customer and business goals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in an ISO 17025 accredited commercial chemistry laboratory.
- Hands-on expertise with isotope ratio mass spectrometry workflows and instruments.
- Proficiency in sample preparation techniques specific to EA-IRMS analysis.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Strong commitment to precise, reliable, and reproducible laboratory results.
- Good understanding of quality management and laboratory best practices.
- Effective organizational and communication skills.
Compensation
The position offers an annual salary range of NZD 67,000 to NZD 69,000.
