L2 Production Support Engineer

Role Overview

The position involves overseeing batch process jobs in a live production environment, utilizing monitoring tools such as Kibana and Elasticsearch to supervise applications and batch operations. The role requires resolving production issues by identifying incidents, analyzing them, and creating reports. Responsibilities extend to running and debugging SQL queries to assist in production support and problem diagnosis. Application support duties include basic Java and Linux system knowledge. The role demands vigilance in detecting batch job failures, determining their root causes, and collaborating with relevant teams to address these effectively. Preparing and updating incident documentation and other technical materials is essential. The job requires availability to support production during all days, including weekends, holidays, and rotational night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and control batch processing tasks within a production environment.
• Use Kibana and Elasticsearch tools for comprehensive application and batch monitoring.
• Diagnose, analyze, and report on production incidents and related issues.
• Run and troubleshoot SQL queries to support incident investigations.
• Provide basic application assistance involving Java and Linux systems.
• Track failures in batch jobs, analyze root causes, and coordinate with teams to implement fixes.
• Develop and maintain detailed incident reports and technical documentation.
• Ensure continuous production support including weekday, weekend, public holiday coverage, and shift rotations including nights.

Candidate Profile

• At least three years’ experience in IT production support roles.
• Proficient with batch processing systems.
• Experienced in using Kibana and Elasticsearch for application and log monitoring.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL.
• Basic familiarity with Java programming concepts.
• Fundamental understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Skilled in incident management and production troubleshooting processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Preference for candidates with a background in banking or financial services production support.

Additional Information

Applicants must be prepared to work in rotational shifts covering nights, weekends, and public holidays.
