Role Summary

The Kitchen Technician position is pivotal in ensuring all commercial kitchen equipment and related systems within the hotel function safely, efficiently, and without interruption. The role encompasses inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and prompt troubleshooting to support seamless Food & Beverage operations while upholding strict standards in safety, hygiene, and functionality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct both preventive and corrective maintenance on all commercial kitchen machinery and appliances.
  • Perform inspections, troubleshoot issues, and carry out repairs on cooking, refrigeration, heating, and food preparation equipment.
  • Maintain a variety of kitchen tools and appliances including ovens, ranges, grills, fryers, dishwashers, ice makers, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Identify electrical, mechanical, and basic plumbing faults in kitchen equipment.
  • Respond swiftly to maintenance requests and equipment failures to limit operational disruptions.
  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance activities in line with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist in the setup, testing, and commissioning of newly acquired kitchen equipment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Food & Beverage departments to align maintenance efforts with operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, hygiene, and hotel policies during maintenance tasks.
  • Keep accurate documentation of repairs, inspections, and servicing activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and report when replenishment is necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment including tools and workspaces.
  • Notify the Engineering Supervisor about significant equipment defects or recurrent issues.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at energy conservation and enhancing equipment efficiency.
  • Provide technical assistance alongside other Engineering team members when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering management team.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possession of a technical diploma or vocational qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or a similar technical discipline.
  • Prior experience in kitchen equipment maintenance or as a Kitchen Technician is essential.
  • Experience working in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or large-scale commercial kitchens is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen appliances and equipment.
  • Understanding of the electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and basic plumbing aspects related to kitchen equipment.
  • Familiarity with both preventive and corrective maintenance methodology.
  • Awareness of health, safety, and hygiene standards applicable to kitchen environments.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, and nights as demanded by hotel operations.
