Role Overview
The Kitchen Porter at Soho House plays an essential role in ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently by cleaning and maintaining all kitchenware, including pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and glassware. This position supports hygiene and safety by managing waste disposal and ensuring the kitchen and back-of-house areas remain clean and well-organized.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize all kitchen items such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and glassware as per operational requirements.
- Operate commercial dishwashing and cleaning machinery following manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of kitchen workspaces and storage zones.
- Dispose of kitchen waste responsibly, empty bins, and keep work areas tidy throughout shifts.
- Adhere strictly to Food Safety and Health & Safety standards including UK regulations and HACCP protocols.
- Follow comprehensive cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist the kitchen team by restocking supplies, reporting low inventory, and providing support during busy service periods.
- Handle kitchen equipment carefully to avoid damage and maintain inventory quality.
- Replenish toiletries, towels, and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Safely manage cleaning chemicals and equipment storage.
Candidate Profile
- Experience up to 2 years in a fast-paced, high-profile kitchen or similar environment is desirable.
- Preferably has prior cleaning, housekeeping, or janitorial experience.
- Familiar with various cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Highly attentive to detail and capable of working independently.
- Reliable, discreet, and maintains a professional demeanor.
- Flexible to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Open to constructive feedback to enhance member satisfaction.
- Capable of multitasking in a hectic environment.
- Ability to comprehend and execute both verbal and written instructions effectively.
