Job description
Kitchen Helper Role
The Kitchen Helper supports daily kitchen tasks to maintain efficient operations and assist the culinary team. This includes basic food preparation, cleaning duties, and helping chefs with routine kitchen tasks.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring as instructed.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas including washing dishes and utensils, and cleaning surfaces regularly.
- Assist in organizing food supplies, monitoring inventory, and reporting shortages or spoilage.
- Support chefs by fetching ingredients and preparing simple garnishes and cooking tasks.
- Manage kitchen waste and recycling in compliance with health standards.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene protocols.
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior kitchen experience advantageous but not compulsory.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices is expected.
- Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced setting with good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically able to stand for long durations and handle lifting up to 50 pounds.
Chef Role
The Chef oversees all kitchen operations, including menu creation and food preparation to meet high culinary standards, while managing staff and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Create innovative and appealing menus, adapting seasonally and to customer preferences.
- Prepare and cook dishes ensuring consistent quality in taste and presentation.
- Supervise and train kitchen personnel, assigning duties to optimize kitchen efficiency.
- Conduct quality control by monitoring dishes and performing taste tests.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, control costs, and ensure proper ingredient storage.
- Ensure health, safety, and sanitation standards are upheld in the kitchen.
- Engage with customers occasionally to gather feedback and refine dishes.
Chef Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Culinary degree or equal professional experience.
- Experience as a chef in a high-volume kitchen setting.
- Strong expertise in cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent leadership, multitasking abilities, and communication skills.
- Physically capable of extended work in a hot, demanding environment and lifting up to 50 pounds.
