Job description

Company Overview

Bytes & Pixels develops software solutions for clients and operates its own digital products, including mobile AI applications. The team is small and based in Munich, with a fast workflow from concept to deployment spanning client projects, internal ventures, and their skincare brand Labeless.

Role Overview

The position redefines the traditional junior engineer role by integrating AI-driven development tools. Instead of manually coding every line, you will guide AI agents that assist in coding, focusing on oversight, reviewing the output, and delivering reliable software. Strong fundamentals are critical because understanding and validating AI-generated code is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy features for client projects and internal products, including mobile AI applications, primarily using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
  • Adopt an AI agent-first workflow by employing AI coding assistants to accelerate development and subsequently refining the generated code.
  • Diagnose and correct code, including AI-produced scripts, that you did not originally write.
  • Translate loosely defined requirements into operational software with rapid feedback.
  • Take ownership of small components from initial draft through to live release, with support from senior engineers as needed.

Candidate Requirements

  • A computer science degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong foundational skills and hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js demonstrated through professional work, academic projects, or personal initiatives.
  • Proven experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or comparable platforms, with informed opinions on their advantages and limitations.
  • A cautious approach that verifies AI-generated code rather than accepting it without scrutiny.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly articulate technical work and decisions.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in German is advantageous.
  • Bonus qualifications include participation in side projects, open-source contributions, or other deliverables that can be reviewed, as well as familiarity with databases, APIs, or cloud deployment.

Benefits

  • Experience firsthand the modern software development process using advanced tools and autonomous workflows from day one.
  • Gain genuine ownership early in your career with visible impact as your work reaches users.
  • Receive direct mentorship from senior engineers outside of traditional ticket systems.
  • Work within a small, close-knit Munich-based team where individual contributions visibly influence the company.

Application Instructions

Applicants should submit a CV along with examples of their work, such as repositories, live projects, or a brief summary of AI-assisted projects and the lessons learned. The focus is to showcase actual abilities beyond a written profile.
