Role Summary

The Junior Quantity Surveyor will play an integral role in supporting the commercial management team by managing costs, contracts, valuations, and client relationships on engineering projects. This role offers hands-on experience and the chance to develop commercially focused construction expertise on prominent projects within data centers, life sciences, industrial, and power sectors.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project and planning teams to evaluate project progress and commercial outcomes.
• Assist in preparing, analyzing, and managing contract variations and change orders.
• Support the compilation, submission, and tracking of interim and final financial accounts.
• Assist with claims management and participate in commercial negotiation processes as needed.
• Ensure timely creation and distribution of payment certificates.
• Maintain accurate commercial documentation, including claims, certificates, variations, and retention monitoring.
• Monitor retention payments ensuring their recovery aligns with project milestones.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders on commercial issues maintaining professional relationships.
• Develop understanding of contract terms, client duties, and commercial risk mitigation strategies.
• Record all completed work under appropriate commercial categories accurately.
• Support identification and evaluation of labor, materials, and cost escalation impacts.
• Generate detailed commercial reports for project teams and senior management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management, or a related area.
• Strong capability in numerical analysis and interpretation of commercial data.
• Excellent communication skills, especially in building and maintaining relationships.
• Demonstrates a proactive approach and eagerness to learn within a fast-moving environment.
• Highly attentive to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Commercially aware with an established interest in the construction and engineering sectors.
• Adaptable team member able to work effectively under project delivery pressures.
