Job Overview
The Junior Planning Engineer will be an integral part of the team based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, supporting planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting activities for design and construction projects across industrial, commercial, and data center domains. This role demands strong technical abilities with Primavera P6, project controls expertise, construction sequencing knowledge, understanding of contractual obligations, and experience in delay analysis.
Key Duties
- Examine contract and tender documentation to comprehend scheduling mandates, critical milestones, reporting requirements, and legal notifications.
- Develop and manage various schedules including tender, baseline, look-ahead, micro, and recovery plans using Primavera P6.
- Maintain accuracy and logical sequencing in project schedules, resource allocation, and alignment with construction methodology and project needs.
- Monitor site progress through visits, daily reports, timesheets, task completion data, and direct coordination with site teams.
- Update and adjust schedules to incorporate actual progress, changes, accelerations, delays, and corrective recovery strategies.
- Generate weekly and monthly progress reports, resource histograms, financial curves, and deliver presentations to both clients and internal teams.
- Track productivity against planned work, highlight critical activities and milestone achievement, and flag schedule variances or concerns.
- Detect potential project delays and risks, communicate impacts to project management, and propose mitigation and recovery actions.
- Perform delay analysis and assist the Contracts department with Extension of Time claims, including preparation of impacted schedules, narratives, methodologies, and documentation.
- Collaborate across disciplines including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Cost Control, Quantity Surveying, and Contracts to enhance project scheduling.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to collect progress updates and ensure their alignment with overarching project timelines.
- Participate actively in site progress and coordination meetings, follow up on planning action items, and provide clear schedule communication to stakeholders.
- Maintain meticulous planning documentation, reports, productivity metrics, and schedule revisions within the authorized project filing systems.
Qualifications and Skills
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
- At least 1 year of relevant project planning experience, ideally within contractor roles for data center or industrial projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Primavera P6 and Power BI tools.
- Mandatory certification in at least one of the following: PMP (Project Management Professional), PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional), or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional).
- Solid grasp of contractual and commercial aspects pertinent to scheduling.
- Strong communication and presentation capabilities with confidence in interfacing with clients and consultants.
- Proven skill in juggling multiple assignments and meeting strict deadlines.
- Applicant must be a Saudi national.
