Job description

About Halter

Halter is dedicated to enabling farmers and graziers to operate the most productive and sustainable farms by transforming traditional farming methods. Our solutions allow cattle to move calmly and independently, eliminating the need for quad bikes, dogs, or fences, and revolutionizing grazing management worldwide. Our team thrives on solving complex problems in a high-performance culture, committed to meaningful impact and real-world change, supported by leading global investors.

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Failure Analysis team to investigate and diagnose hardware failures in the field and lab. Our Halter collars, designed to last 6-10 years worldwide without repair or servicing, require thorough failure analysis to ensure product longevity. Your role will involve hands-on debugging of complex, integrated electromechanical devices, identifying root causes of failures, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to improve product reliability and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly address and analyze critical failure modes in Halter products with hands-on involvement.
  • Contribute to developing and refining procedures to enhance diagnostic accuracy and reduce false failure findings.
  • Collaborate effectively with hardware, firmware, production, supplier quality, and networking teams to investigate failures and determine their root causes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in electronics engineering with practical skills in hardware debugging.
  • Ability to diagnose failures encountered in field conditions and understand their relationship to observed events.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly present technical findings and collaborate across teams.
  • A curious, first-principles mindset focused on evidence-based root cause analysis.
  • High ownership, proactive attitude, and willingness to tackle broader challenges beyond immediate tasks.
  • Team-oriented with a humble and collaborative approach, ready to contribute actively to team success.

Our Culture and Benefits

  • Engagement in work that has significant, positive impact on farmers' lives and sustainable agriculture.
  • Join a diverse, skilled, and motivated team solving challenging problems with tangible results.
  • Opportunities for personal growth and skill development, including an annual $1,000 personal growth fund.
  • A fast-paced, rewarding environment focused on innovation and bold objectives, described as an exciting and intense journey.

Diversity and Inclusion

We foster an inclusive workplace where everyone can bring their full selves and thrive. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, including those who may not meet every stated requirement. If you believe you're a good fit, we welcome your application and look forward to conversations about your potential contribution.
