Role Overview
As a Job Developer in our vocational and day programs, you will play a crucial role in connecting individuals with employment opportunities. Your job will involve establishing relationships with local employers and agencies to secure competitive paid jobs and volunteer positions for those referred for vocational support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with community employers as an employment specialist to obtain paid employment and volunteer education opportunities for supported individuals.
- Conduct research and recommend suitable community employment locations and activities, perform vocational assessments, evaluate potential job sites, and follow up accordingly.
- Identify and explore career and vocational options by networking with employers, aligning their needs with clients' career goals.
- Assist clients in job searching and interview preparation; provide ongoing support after job placement to ensure success.
- Deliver work adjustment training focusing on enhancing work skills, behaviors, interpersonal abilities, and ethics for job retention.
- Contribute to Individual Service Plans for clients with paid or volunteer engagements and those with job development objectives.
- Complete necessary service documentation, regularly meet with clients and relevant parties to provide support, and maintain clear communication with the planning team.
- Attend relevant community meetings on behalf of clients, professionally represent the program, and advocate for individual rights.
- Ensure safety by supervising clients at job sites when appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred.
- At least five years of experience in human services, including a minimum of two years focused on job development.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience that demonstrate proficiency in relevant responsibilities may be considered.
- Self-driven and detail-conscious with strong multitasking capabilities.
- Effective communicator with the ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals.
- Dependable and compassionate personality traits.
