Job Summary
The Janitor is responsible for ensuring buildings remain clean and orderly through various cleaning tasks such as floor care, surface sanitation, and trash removal. This role serves an essential function in creating safe educational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and properly dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control guidelines.
- Dust and damp mop floors according to established processes.
- Relocate equipment and furniture to facilitate thorough cleaning and return items to their designated places.
- Sanitize assigned areas utilizing specified cleaning materials and equipment, following an eight-step cleaning process.
- Clean walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces to maintain safety and cleanliness for all occupants.
- Proactively identify and address areas needing cleaning without direct instruction.
- Fulfill all duties assigned by supervisors promptly and efficiently.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations in performing tasks.
- Perform floor care including stripping, scrubbing, buffing, refinishing, and carpet shampooing.
- Demonstrate professionalism and contribute positively within the team and when engaging with customers and coworkers.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned to support facility cleanliness.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least one year of experience in custodial work or commercial cleaning is mandatory.
Working Hours and Locations
- Positions available at Schreiner University, 2100 Memorial Boulevard, Kerrville, TX, and multiple other school district sites.
- Shift options include 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) and 2nd shift (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM), with flexible full-time and part-time schedules to accommodate varying needs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage is set at $14.00.
