Primary Duties

  • Assemble mechanical sub-systems, linkages, joints, and high-precision components of robotic surgical arms.
  • Interpret mechanical engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), as well as assembly guidelines.
  • Use hand tools and measuring devices such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges alongside basic machine tools.
  • Execute precision checks including fit, alignment, and torque as per technical specifications.
  • Assist in fabrication, coordinate machining, and carry out quality inspections of mechanical parts.
  • Perform functional tests and diagnose issues in mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Accurately document assembly processes, inspection outcomes, and any deviations.
  • Comply strictly with ISO 13485 and medical device manufacturing protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams including electrical, software, and quality assurance to ensure cohesive system integration.
  • Adhere to cleanroom standards and handle sensitive parts with care to prevent contamination or damage.

Required Profile

  • ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years' practical experience in mechanical assembly or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques, fit tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Proficient in operating precision measurement tools and various hand tools.
  • Competent in reading engineering blueprints, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
  • Basic familiarity with materials such as metals and polymers utilized in precision instruments.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with a strong dedication to quality due to the high-stakes nature of medical devices.
