Job description
Position Overview
We are looking for a qualified ITI Mechanical Engineer to join our team focused on the fabrication, assembly, and testing of high-precision mechanical components for surgical robotic systems. This role demands meticulous accuracy as the strict tolerance levels directly influence patient outcomes.
Primary Duties
- Assemble mechanical sub-systems, linkages, joints, and high-precision components of robotic surgical arms.
- Interpret mechanical engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), as well as assembly guidelines.
- Use hand tools and measuring devices such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges alongside basic machine tools.
- Execute precision checks including fit, alignment, and torque as per technical specifications.
- Assist in fabrication, coordinate machining, and carry out quality inspections of mechanical parts.
- Perform functional tests and diagnose issues in mechanical assemblies.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Accurately document assembly processes, inspection outcomes, and any deviations.
- Comply strictly with ISO 13485 and medical device manufacturing protocols.
- Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams including electrical, software, and quality assurance to ensure cohesive system integration.
- Adhere to cleanroom standards and handle sensitive parts with care to prevent contamination or damage.
Required Profile
- ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years' practical experience in mechanical assembly or precision manufacturing environments.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques, fit tolerances, and quality standards.
- Proficient in operating precision measurement tools and various hand tools.
- Competent in reading engineering blueprints, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Basic familiarity with materials such as metals and polymers utilized in precision instruments.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with a strong dedication to quality due to the high-stakes nature of medical devices.
