IT Officer

Overview

The IT Officer is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, security, and optimal performance of the organization's technology infrastructure, software applications, networking equipment, and Global Distribution System (GDS) software integration. This role supports everyday technical functions, minimizes downtime, protects sensitive client information, and fosters technological adoption across all company departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot office hardware including network switches, routers, firewalls, printers, and workstations.
• Provide frontline technical support to internal staff by promptly resolving issues related to software, connectivity, hardware, and system access.
• Oversee software deployments, API integrations, booking engine linkages, and terminal configurations for GDS platforms such as Amadeus and Sabre, as well as internal travel management ERP systems.
• Collaborate with external IT service vendors, ISPs, and software suppliers to maintain high availability and system uptime.
• Implement cybersecurity measures including user access controls, multi-factor authentication, and antivirus solutions across all systems.
• Protect payment processing data and confidential client travel details in adherence to data privacy regulations.
• Perform regular backups (both local and cloud) and conduct disaster recovery drills to secure operational data.
• Keep detailed records of hardware and software assets, assessing upgrade needs to support organizational growth.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess at least a Higher National Diploma (HND) in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• Have between 2 to 4 years of practical experience handling network administration, troubleshooting hardware, and providing system support; familiarity with GDS systems or travel-related software is advantageous.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) will be considered a plus.
• Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a sound understanding of network protocols, cloud services management, and software support methodologies.
