Job description

About Main Sequence

Main Sequence (MSV) stands as Australia's premier deep technology venture capital firm managing over $1 billion across three funds. We invest in revolutionary technologies such as quantum computing, synthetic biology, climate initiatives, space exploration, and artificial intelligence. Currently, we are in the process of raising our fourth fund.

Role Overview

As the Investor Relations Manager, you will be crucial in managing relationships with existing and potential Limited Partners (LPs). This foundational role ensures that Partners are thoroughly prepared for all investor meetings and that every necessary preparatory task—research, material creation, scheduling, CRM oversight, and diligent follow-up—is executed flawlessly. The role relieves Partners from groundwork responsibilities, allowing them to focus on engaging conversations with well-qualified investors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a custom investor engagement strategy targeting potential and current LPs by identifying and researching high-potential prospects such as family offices, pension funds, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and wealth managers.
  • Conduct proactive outreach and qualification of investor interest ahead of Partner involvement, scheduling impactful meetings aligned with Partner availability and strategic investor locations.
  • Maintain and tailor presentation materials and decks to showcase Main Sequence’s performance and unique value propositions for diverse audiences, including adjusting narratives appropriately for both domestic and international investors.
  • Manage the calendar for key investor events including conferences, annual general meetings, roadshows, and webinars, ensuring optimal meeting scheduling, note-taking, and follow-up.
  • Oversee investor communications including quarterly updates, due diligence questionnaire responses, and briefing notes to ensure timely and transparent reporting, fostering investor confidence and satisfaction.
  • Administer the investor data room and CRM system meticulously, ensuring all records, interactions, and next steps are accurately documented and synchronized with the finance team as required.

Candidate Profile

You are an agile learner with strong consulting instincts, naturally supporting investor-facing teams efficiently and proactively. Your confidence and stakeholder management skills enable you to engage senior leaders independently, maintain momentum, and ensure deadlines are met without waiting for direction. You are excited to contribute to a unique fund during an exciting phase of growth in Australian deep tech.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in consulting, sales operations, go-to-market enablement, or similar operational roles managing investor or client communications, materials, CRM, and meeting logistics.
  • Strong research acumen enabling quick acquisition of market knowledge and conversion of data into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to produce and customize polished presentation materials efficiently from templates for targeted meetings and audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills capable of simplifying complex ideas and maintaining on-brand correspondence.
  • Assertive and persistent follow-up approach ensuring progress and timely completion of tasks including engagement with senior personnel.
  • Genuine interest in deep technology and science-based enterprises.

Desirable Attributes

  • Previous consulting background with exposure to fast-paced client deliverables.
  • Experience within venture capital or private markets sectors is advantageous.
  • Established connections within Australian limited partner or global institutional investor communities.
  • Experience supporting small, senior leadership teams or founders directly.

Benefits and Opportunities

  • Participate in Main Sequence’s ambitious Fund 4 raise amid unprecedented interest in Australian deep tech globally.
  • Gain direct exposure to high-level decision-making processes and work alongside Partners engaging elite institutional investors worldwide from the outset.
  • A chance to shape and grow the investor relations function, defining best practices within a developing team.

Inclusion and Diversity

Main Sequence values diverse perspectives and experiences, welcoming applications from all backgrounds to enrich our team and innovation culture.
