Job description

Position Overview

This opportunity is offered in partnership with a company seeking an Investor Relations Associate based in Canada, working remotely. The role centers on cultivating strong relationships with family offices and high-net-worth investors. It involves supporting ongoing fundraising efforts while expanding a personal network of capital allocators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand a portfolio of allocator relationships, including family offices and affluent individuals, ensuring ongoing engagement between deals.
  • Assist live fundraising campaigns by vetting investors, creating detailed briefing documents, managing follow-up activities, and overseeing smooth process execution.
  • Continuously source new investors by identifying suitable allocators and initiating introductory discussions on a steady basis.
  • Conduct thorough research on investors to comprehend their capital allocation strategies and interest in direct investments, especially in US startups.
  • Foster trust-based relationships through insightful, relevant communication, avoiding transactional or overly promotional messaging.
  • Collaborate closely with senior investor team members to participate in investor dialogues, contribute to fundraising execution, and enhance independent evaluative skills.
  • Leverage AI-driven tools and modern workflow platforms to streamline investor research, briefing preparation, and pipeline tracking, allowing more emphasis on relationship building.
  • Handle confidential investor data with utmost discretion, protecting sensitive information such as names, allocation details, and conversations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven foundational experience building an investor or allocator network via wealth management, private banking, family office, placement, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently initiate and cultivate new investor relationships rather than solely relying on existing institutional contacts.
  • Well-defined, repeatable methods for identifying fitting investors, initiating contact, establishing credibility, and maintaining long-term engagement.
  • Strong comprehension of investor capital allocation practices, ideally including knowledge of direct investments in US startups.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building aptitude, adopting a consultative style that respects investor priorities and time.
  • High standards of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when managing confidential investor information and sensitive discussions.
  • Effective organizational skills to juggle numerous relationships, mandates, follow-ups, and priorities consistently.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote and asynchronous setup while collaborating productively with senior colleagues.
  • Openness and capability to utilize AI tools for investor research, preparation, and pipeline oversight as part of a technologically advanced workflow.

Benefits and Work Environment

  • Fully remote role with asynchronous working to support flexibility.
  • Work hours overlap partially with US Eastern Time, minimizing full US office hour requirements.
  • Meetings primarily scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays, freeing significant time for focused individual tasks.
  • Access to premium, paid AI software to enhance research, preparation, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Direct learning and hands-on experience with active fundraising deals and investor deal flows.
  • Opportunity to develop investor relations skills and allocator relationship management under experienced leadership.
  • Progressive responsibility to develop and oversee a personal investor network segment.
  • Full-time employment with positions available in Canada, the UK, and Germany.
