Role Overview

The Inventory Management Specialist role supports a specialized U.S. Navy initiative on Diego Garcia island, focusing on accurate inventory tracking and management in line with Navy policies and approved practices. This position safeguards inventory integrity, regulates access to supply facilities, and prevents unauthorized use.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute inventory management tasks following Navy standards including Chapter 6 of NAVSUP P-485 Volume III, NAVSUP P-723, and other relevant procedures.
• Maintain precise records and tracking of inventory in required government systems.
• Oversee inventory operations such as transactions, issues, and receipts with strict documentation.
• Ensure fidelity of both physical and electronic inventory counts and promptly reconcile discrepancies to meet Navy compliance.
• Manage and restrict access to supply zones and warehouses to avoid unauthorized usage.
• Adhere rigorously to government-sanctioned Standard Operating Procedures for material and facility security.
• Assist with inventory audits and furnish comprehensive reports detailing inventory status, inconsistencies, and corrections.
• Perform additional duties related to the role as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in logistics or supply chain is preferred.
• Between two to four years of experience in inventory management, supply chain operations, or logistics.
• Well-versed in Navy inventory policies such as NAVSUP P-485 and NAVSUP P-723.
• Strong organizational skills for sustained accuracy in record keeping and transaction tracking.
• Proficient with inventory databases and relevant government software platforms.
• Capability to enforce security measures controlling supply access.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and audit coordination.
• Possession of a valid passport with at least one year validity and capacity to travel internationally.
• Ability to obtain necessary country visas following U.S. Department of State guidelines.
• Must clear contract medical evaluations and maintain health compliance throughout deployment.
• Capability to receive and maintain facility security credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in austere, overseas environments with international teams.
• Familiarity with Navy-oriented logistics systems including NAVSUP and FLC Yokosuka programs.
• Expertise in inventory reconciliation and audit processes.
• Valid driver's license for the country of operation.
• Prior work with government or military inventory management systems.
