Intermediate Hydraulic Modeller - Water Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking an Intermediate Hydraulic Modeller to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy's New Zealand water team based in Hamilton, Waikato. This role involves working on stormwater, wastewater, and drainage network modelling projects nationally, with opportunities for international engagement. The position offers a significant pipeline of projects and the chance to enhance your technical expertise within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct, develop, and calibrate hydraulic models for stormwater, wastewater, and drainage systems.
• Conduct system performance evaluations to assess infrastructure.
• Contribute to options analysis and support the design of engineering solutions.
• Participate in feasibility studies and early-stage concept designs.
• Assist in quality assurance and control of modelling outputs.
• Perform site visits for investigative and technical assessments.
• Prepare calculations, comprehensive reports, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with senior modellers and project teams on ongoing assignments.
• Provide mentorship to junior modellers as part of professional growth.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering.
• Approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a consulting environment.
• Demonstrable practical experience using InfoWorks ICM software.
• Skill in constructing and calibrating hydraulic models.
• Exposure to wastewater and/or stormwater network hydraulic modelling.
• Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), ideally ArcGIS.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-specialists.
• Proactive engagement with clients and multidisciplinary project teams beyond purely technical tasks.

Additional Skills

While not mandatory, experience with data analytics, programming, automation, or data visualization will be viewed favorably.
