Integration Engineer

Role Overview

The Integration Engineer is responsible for architecting and managing sophisticated enterprise integration solutions that support secure, scalable, dependable, and efficient linkage between various applications, internal platforms, external partners, and third-party services.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technical expert for enterprise-wide integration within the technology ecosystem.
• Design intricate integration frameworks including APIs, interfaces, and messaging systems.
• Establish and enforce integration standards, design patterns, protocols, and engineering methodologies.
• Lead and oversee the technical deployment of critical system integrations with partners, payment schemes, and in-house platforms.
• Create integration solutions using synchronous, asynchronous, event-driven, and API-driven approaches.
• Develop and maintain integrations utilizing IBM integration tools such as ACE/API Connect, MQ, and Kafka event streaming platforms.
• Manage the complete API lifecycle encompassing version control, gateway policies, and onboarding of API consumers.
• Ensure that all integration solutions comply with designated security, performance, availability, and scalability criteria.
• Implement security measures for partner connections including mutual TLS (mTLS), certificate handling, encryption, and secure key management.
• Guarantee compliance with regulatory standards, audit mandates, and change management governance related to integrations.
• Evaluate and audit integration designs and implementations to confirm adherence with architectural guidelines.
• Investigate and resolve complex integration and live production issues that span across multiple systems.
• Enhance integration efficiency by improving performance, reliability, monitoring capabilities, error handling, and reconciliation processes.
• Detect and advise on integration-related risks, interdependencies, and technical debt, suggesting appropriate enhancements.
• Provide mentorship for integration engineering team members and actively contribute to the overall enterprise integration architecture strategy.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another relevant discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• At least 5 years of experience in enterprise integration roles with proven senior technical leadership responsibilities.
• Proficient knowledge of IBM integration toolset including ACE, API Connect, MQ, and DataPower, along with event streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and security technologies including OAuth2, mutual TLS (mTLS), and message-level encryption mechanisms.
• Experience working with payment systems involving ISO 8583, ISO 20022, or payment scheme integrations is desirable.
• Professional certifications relevant to integration technologies are preferred.
