Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Instrumentation Technician to join our team at the Nestlé Zimbabwe Factory located in Harare. The role focuses on ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of factory machinery, equipment, and facilities to reduce downtime, boost productivity, and maintain workplace safety.

Daily Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on plant machinery.
• Carry out regular inspections and preventative upkeep on all equipment and facilities.
• Calibrate all factory instrumentation accurately.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation, electrical systems, and automation; execute necessary repairs or replacements.
• Work alongside various departments to arrange maintenance tasks in a manner that limits interruption to production.
• Document all maintenance activities diligently, including work orders, repairs conducted, and equipment histories.
• Oversee the inventory and availability of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance work.
• Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
• Support installation, setup, and commissioning processes for new machinery and equipment.
• Offer technical assistance and advice to production teams regarding equipment operations and maintenance.
• Utilize skills in PLC programming (Rockwell Automation; RS Logix 5000 and Studio 5000) and VFD configuration (Rockwell Automation; Powerflex 525 and 755).
• Keep abreast of advancements and best practices in industrial maintenance and technology.

Qualifications and Skills Needed

• Possess a National Diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Hold a Class One Instrumentation and Control Systems Journeyman Card.
• Demonstrate proven industrial or manufacturing experience as an instrumentation and control technician.
• Strong understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
• Adept at reading and interpreting technical documentation, including manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Familiar with maintenance tools, equipment, and repair techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to workplace safety.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• High attention to detail with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
