Job description
Overview
The primary objective of this position is to continuously ensure optimal plant uptime. The individual will lead maintenance and troubleshooting efforts related to electrical, instrumentation, and control systems equipment within the plant. The role directly supports the achievement of key plant KPIs including production volume targets, safety and quality compliance, cost reductions, improvements in equipment reliability, and minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical and instrumentation maintenance tasks across process, packaging, palletizing, wastewater, utilities, and facility plants.
- Work with equipment like vertical filling machines, automatic case packaging machines, and robotic palletizing systems.
- Lead all repairs and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment within assigned areas.
- Track daily downtime and implement corrective actions to prevent breakdown recurrence.
- Calibrate, repair, and maintain instrumentation, control, and electrical equipment to meet operational standards.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve asset performance issues and reduce operational costs.
- Maintain PLCs, SCADA systems, and associated networks, including necessary hardware/software modifications.
- Evaluate control philosophies continuously and recommend improvements to meet asset performance goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives on all electrical and electronic plant equipment.
- Assist with commissionings of modifications and projects.
- Ensure all changes and modifications are properly documented and conduct internal audits.
- Perform fault finding and repairs on electrical and electronic systems down to component level.
- Maintain spare parts availability for all electrical, electronic, and control systems.
- Report equipment deviations promptly to stakeholders to enhance equipment availability and reliability.
- Back up PLC programs regularly and maintain records of all upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with MESS standards and advocate for safe operations of process control systems.
- Audit electrical, instrumentation, and control system equipment regularly.
- Calibrate all instrumentation and control devices.
- Conduct all scheduled maintenance within designated timelines.
- Record work activities accurately using the SAP computerized maintenance management system.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to complete assigned tasks.
- Communicate with production teams during shifts to proactively identify potential failures.
- Provide continuous shift cover, standby coverage, and work overtime as required by business needs.
Qualifications
- Electrical trade certification with at least N6/S4 diploma in Electrical Instrumentation and Control.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance within a Production or FMCG environment.
- Advanced proficiency with computers, document management, Microsoft Office 365, and SAP maintenance systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems with the ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment manuals, ensuring high quality workmanship.
- Strong skills in PLC fault finding and troubleshooting; thorough understanding of operator interfaces and HMIs.
- Experience working with control systems such as PLCs, SCADA, VSDs, servo systems, HMI systems, standalone controllers, high-speed printers, and robotics.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols including Ethernet, CANBUS, RS-232, ASI, and Devicenet.
- A strong focus on maintenance and reliability to elevate equipment quality and operational safety.
