About The Role

IDEXX is searching for a knowledgeable Instrument Technician II to become part of their Instrument Services team in Sydney. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diagnostic instruments used in veterinary care, supporting reliable equipment performance critical for animal health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and test diagnostic instruments and related equipment.
  • Disassemble, reconstruct, and conduct functional checks of instruments at the Sydney site.
  • Implement scheduled preventive maintenance and assist in servicing activities.
  • Assemble and inspect mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Document all repair work, testing procedures, and outcomes accurately using electronic tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to processes and help develop procedural documentation.
  • Adhere to quality, safety, and compliance standards including standard operating procedures.
  • Gain expertise across different product lines and collaborate with cross-functional teams providing technical support as needed.
  • Maintain an organized, safe work environment and engage in continuous improvement efforts.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a technical qualification or background in fields such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or similar disciplines.
  • Possesses 2 to 3 years of practical experience in equipment repair, maintenance, manufacturing, or technical servicing roles.
  • Exhibits strong diagnostic and repair skills allowing independent fault resolution.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical manuals, operational procedures, and specifications.
  • Experienced or comfortable working with mechanical and electronic systems, showing aptitude for electro-mechanical repairs.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
  • Prior experience with medical, laboratory, diagnostic devices, or veterinary technology is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrates good communication, teamwork ability, and flexibility.
  • Permanent Australian work rights are highly preferred.
