Key Responsibilities

• Conduct workplace inspections to evaluate compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Investigate incidents, hazards, and safety-related concerns in various industries.
• Offer practical guidance and advice to employers and employees on workplace safety matters.
• Encourage positive safety outcomes through stakeholder engagement.
• Develop effective working relationships with different stakeholders in the safety ecosystem.
• Implement regulatory actions when necessary to enforce safety standards.
• Support the mission of enhancing workplace safety across Victoria.

Candidate Profile

We seek candidates from a variety of sectors such as trades, manufacturing, transport, healthcare, construction, agriculture, engineering, government, safety, compliance, warehousing, logistics, or related fields. The ideal person will demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. You should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, be comfortable interpreting legislation and standards, and be confident in using technology and computer systems. Qualifications in occupational health and safety, compliance, a trade, technical disciplines or relevant experience are advantageous but not mandatory.

Recruitment and Training Process

• Applications close on Monday 14th September at 11:00pm.
• Shortlisted candidates will participate in online video interviews along with cognitive and psychometric assessments in late September.
• Panel interviews will be held in October and November.
• Following this, police, reference, and medical checks will be conducted in November and December.
• Offers and contracts will be finalized in December.
• Employment is expected to commence in February, followed by a structured 16-week paid induction starting Monday 8th February, which includes attendance at the Essendon Fields office three days per week and the local office two days per week.
• Successful candidates will be required to enroll in a Diploma of Government as part of their professional development.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must hold a valid, unrestricted Victorian driver's license.
• Availability for all recruitment activities and training commitments is essential.
• Successful completion of National Criminal History, reference, and medical checks.
• Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, or permanent residents.
