Role Overview

Trust is crucial as we handle sensitive data from customers and portfolio companies. Our 4-member IT team supports around 150 colleagues, and we are seeking a dedicated Information Security Manager to build and maintain this foundation. This role focuses on enabling effective and compliant internal operations, acting as the primary contact for information security, data protection, and compliance matters. Instead of theoretical policies, we emphasize practical, real-world IT security in a fast-growing tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and operate an Information Security Management System (ISMS) structured on ISO 27001 and BSI IT-Grundschutz, with clear prioritization tailored to A11's needs.
• Implement pragmatic AI governance: create sensible guidelines for staff experimenting with new AI tools, manage shadow AI usage, and foster a culture of security awareness.
• Serve as the primary advisor for leadership and teams on issues related to information security, customer compliance, and tool selection.
• Produce living documentation and processes: establish policies that are actively communicated and integrated through presentations, direct team engagement, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Over 5 years of professional experience in IT security or compliance, emphasizing conceptual work rather than just helpdesk tasks.
• Hands-on experience participating in the setup of an ISMS (leadership not mandatory).
• Strong communication and independence: ability to network across departments, make autonomous decisions, and persist through resistance.
• Familiarity with standards like ISO 27001 and/or BSI IT-Grundschutz, with a practical understanding rather than rote memorization.
• Basic technical knowledge to engage with IT teams on topics like cloud, APIs, data flows, and infrastructure without necessarily having a formal IT degree.
• Pragmatic approach: recognizing compliance as an ongoing process, prioritizing efforts, working iteratively, and managing ambiguity.
• Fluent in German and English at C1 level.
