About the Department

Role Overview

The position of Information Release Officer involves managing the department's information release services. This includes handling requests under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 1991, National Redress Scheme (NRS), Information Privacy Principles, government circulars, court orders, and related legislation. The officer will coordinate with stakeholders to identify, locate, and retrieve documents from various agency sites, ensuring timely and high-quality responses to these requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compliant and efficient FOI, NRS, and information release services within stipulated deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate information access and release.
  • Provide advisory support regarding FOI, NRS, and information release procedures across the agency.

Qualifications & Conditions

  • No mandatory qualifications required; however, completion of State Records FOI Training Modules 1 to 4 is advantageous.
  • Successful candidates must obtain a Department for Human Services working with children check (WWCC), renewed every five years.
  • Completion of the RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education Care) course, either the extended facilitator lead masterclass or online fundamentals version, with updates every three years, is obligatory.

Terms and Remuneration

This is a full-time, 12-month contract role at 1.0 FTE. The salary range is $92,122 to $102,456 per annum, inclusive of a 12% superannuation contribution and leave loading.
