Job description

Overview

The Infant Educator plays a vital role in nurturing infants and toddlers, establishing safe and supportive environments built on mutual respect and responsiveness. This role involves applying appropriate curricula and programs that aid early development, and actively partnering with families and the broader community to support each child's growth.

Key Duties

  • Design and deliver curriculum and learning programs tailored to infant and toddler development stages.
  • Develop routine caregiving strategies, learning activities, and materials consistent with the Early Years Development Framework.
  • Create suitable educational resources enhancing the learning environment's quality.
  • Keep detailed records of children's developmental progress.
  • Apply methods that foster respectful, responsive, and two-way relationships with young children.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, nutrition, and hygiene guidelines and update practices as needed.
  • Plan meaningful activities that suit infant care settings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with families and community stakeholders, supporting continuity of care and collaborative initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage family and community programs, including joint projects, and evaluate their effectiveness for continual improvement.
  • Conduct caregiving assessments and perform routine care aligned with established standards while seeking enhancement opportunities.
  • Champion the preschool's vision, mission, and values through professional practice.
  • Stay informed on recent trends and tools in early childhood education, adapting teaching and caregiving methods accordingly.
  • Identify and propose professional development opportunities and quality improvements in the service delivery.
  • Innovate caregiving and teaching strategies based on observations and reflective practice.

Qualifications and Traits

  • Must hold a relevant certificate such as Certificate in Infants and Toddler Care and Development (CIT), WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care (HCIC), WSQ Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY), or equivalent aligned with the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF).
  • Demonstrates resilience to manage diverse tasks and adapt to changing circumstances effectively.
  • Exhibits strong teamwork and interpersonal skills necessary for collaboration with peers, families, and community partners.
  • Displays a genuine passion for children’s growth, development, and well-being.
  • Upholds professionalism, striving for excellence, integrity, and accountability in all duties.
  • Commits to lifelong learning and reflective practices to continuously improve.
  • Shows empathy and respect towards children, families, diverse stakeholders, and community members.
