About the Role
Join Aurecon's Energy & Industrial team as a Mechanical Engineer, contributing to leading industrial projects that enhance, upgrade, and expand vital infrastructure across New Zealand. This position involves a mix of office engineering, client interaction, and hands-on site involvement, offering a dynamic engineering experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical engineering tasks across brownfield and sustaining capital projects.
- Analyze and develop engineering options providing pragmatic recommendations to clients and project teams.
- Participate in projects from initial studies through to implementation and on-site support.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidiscipline teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Apply robust engineering judgment to address operational and technical issues.
- Travel throughout New Zealand to client sites, gaining insight into actual facility operations.
Candidate Profile
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy a balance of technical problem-solving and client engagement. Alongside standard engineering deliverables such as calculations and documentation, you'll directly learn facility operations and effectively communicate with clients to transform project needs into functional solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, dairy, food & beverage, energy, or processing sectors.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering with proven sound judgment.
- Background in delivering engineering projects, work packages, or technical studies.
- Able to evaluate technical options and clearly explain recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with working within brownfield or operational industrial settings.
- A collaborative mindset ready to work alongside clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Consulting and/or site-based experience in process industries is especially valued.
