Indirect Tax Manager

About the Role

Join PwC New Zealand as an Indirect Tax Manager or Senior Manager within our industry-leading Indirect Tax team in Auckland. This team specializes in navigating complex GST and Customs matters, delivering practical commercial strategies across diverse sectors. Responsibilities include advising on cross-border transactions, property deals, financial transactions, business sales, GST compliance, risk and tax governance management.

Responsibilities

• Lead GST advisory projects, providing practical and business-focused counsel to clients.
• Interpret and apply tax legislation to complex GST challenges, producing high-quality written and verbal guidance.
• Oversee GST compliance activities, including managing GST return preparation and review.
• Support clients in identifying and managing indirect tax risks through examinations, control evaluations, and data analytics.
• Develop strong client partnerships by understanding goals and tailoring solutions effectively.
• Mentor and guide junior team members to enhance their technical skills and career progression.
• Collaborate with specialists across Tax, Deals, Assurance and Consulting to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to business development, thought leadership, and market outreach to enhance PwC's indirect tax market presence.

Skills and Qualifications

• Extensive indirect tax experience, including GST/VAT advisory, within New Zealand or international markets.
• Background in Big Four firms, professional services, advisory, legal, or corporate tax environments.
• Demonstrated capability managing client relationships and delivering results across multiple engagements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear communication of complex topics.
• Experience leading projects, managing stakeholders, and developing junior team members.
• Relevant degree and professional accounting qualification (e.g., CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW) or in progress.
• Legal qualifications beneficial but not mandatory.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

Additional Information
