Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately posted to the correct accounts.
- Reconcile daily revenues reported in PMS, POS, payment systems, and verify supporting documents.
- Audit cash, credit card, bank, and other payment methods for accuracy and consistency.
- Investigate any mismatches between revenue reports and documentation, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Verify the accuracy of room rates, discounts, complimentary rooms, voided transactions, rebates, refunds, and allowances.
- Confirm that all revenue entries adhere to hotel policies and internal control standards.
- Prepare and disseminate daily revenue and income audit reports to finance and management teams.
- Handle proper recording and reconciliation of credit card settlements and accounts receivable balances.
- Review cashier reports to ensure all cash and credit card balances match recorded amounts.
- Monitor and report any unusual or irregular financial transactions or variances to management.
- Keep comprehensive audit documentation and supporting reconciliations up-to-date.
- Support month-end closing processes, such as revenue reconciliation and accrual postings when needed.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing requested documentation and reports.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, accounting principles, and control requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive financial and guest information.
- Identify potential improvements in revenue controls, reporting accuracy, and operational workflows.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience in income auditing, night auditing, or accounting roles, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with hotel property management systems (PMS) and point-of-sale (POS) platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong reconciliation capabilities.
- High attention to detail combined with excellent analytical skills.
- Understanding of hotel revenue accounting processes and internal control requirements.
- Ability to detect discrepancies and take initiative to correct them comprehensively.
