Role Overview
The Illustration Team within Design is responsible for the quality and consistency of Grab's illustration assets and their integration within products. This position has evolved with AI increasingly generating a significant portion of illustrations. The role involves overseeing the transition from design requests to finalized, on-brand illustrations, managing both AI-generated and hand-crafted artwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and polish production-ready illustrations for Grab's product suite across various asset types.
- Establish and sustain unified illustration standards ensuring coherence between AI-generated and manual illustrations.
- Manage the comprehensive illustration production lifecycle: intake, generation, assessment, and deployment into the production asset library.
- Evaluate AI-generated images against established standards and provide precise, constructive feedback.
- Complete illustration tasks that automation is unable to finalize, delivering finished assets ready for use.
- Leverage production outcomes to refine generation protocols and review criteria, promoting continuous quality enhancements.
- Collaborate closely with product designers, enabling seamless illustration requests, reviews, and deliveries as part of standard design workflows.
Candidate Qualifications
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing production illustration skills, including composition, narrative visuals, and consistent style frameworks.
- Proven experience delivering digital product illustrations, accommodating various asset types and production-related limitations.
- Capable of assessing brand alignment, character, and craftsmanship, articulating these evaluations clearly.
- Comfortable integrating AI-assisted image generation as a practical component of the illustration workflow.
- Experience working collaboratively with product designers to transform briefs into polished, production-ready illustrations.
