Role Summary
This position requires a seasoned IBM i RPG Developer with over eight years of professional experience, specifically within the U.S. annuity insurance sector. Candidates should have substantial expertise in IBM i programming languages and environments, coupled with familiarity in insurance domain operations.
Key Responsibilities & Technical Scope
- Develop and maintain applications using RPG III and RPGLE languages.
- Create and manage service programs and binding directories for modular application design.
- Work extensively with DDS files and DDL tables to define and manage database structures.
- Utilize Control Language (CL) and Control Language Enhanced (CLLE) for system operations and scripting.
- Design and enhance interactive interfaces with display files and subfiles.
Platforms and Technologies
- Operate within IBM DB2/400 database systems efficiently.
- Handle IBM XML data types for complex data processing requirements.
- Use IBM Integrated File System (IFS) for file management tasks.
Tools and Ancillary Skills
- Employ Application Change Management tools like ALDON and VS Code to manage software development lifecycle.
- Implement job scheduling and ETL processes using advanced native IBM i scheduling utilities.
- Knowledge in Visual Basic is considered advantageous but not mandatory.
