Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated Hydrogeologist to join our Water Resources Team, contributing to a variety of projects involving Tier 1 energy and resource clients. This role provides an opportunity to apply academic and professional knowledge in real-world scenarios from one of our Australian offices.

Primary Projects

• Design and lifecycle management of large storage facilities
• Mine site infrastructure and water management
• Groundwater management and remediation of contaminated sites
• Pumped hydroelectric project assessments
• Mine and civil dewatering evaluations
• Water balance analyses
• Environmental impact assessments and groundwater investigations
• Groundwater risk evaluations and third-party reviews

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in field program design and implementation including drilling supervision, geotechnical logging, soil testing, groundwater monitoring, well installation, and hydraulic testing
• Analyze and critically assess groundwater and geological data
• Conduct geospatial and 3D analyses leveraging GIS and Leapfrog software
• Develop conceptual groundwater flow and contaminant transport assessments
• Perform quantitative evaluations using numerical modeling tools such as SEEPW, HYDRUS, MODFLOW, and GoldSim
• Prepare detailed maps, tables, charts, and technical documentation including reports, plans, and proposals
• Engage in health and safety, first aid, and specialized software training provided by the company

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, earth sciences, geochemistry, hydrology, engineering, or a related discipline (mandatory)
• Postgraduate MSc or equivalent qualification in hydrogeology (preferred)

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum two years of direct consulting experience or equivalent academic and professional background (mandatory)
• Five years of consulting experience is an advantage
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Capability to perform well in a dynamic consulting environment, managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and budgets, with readiness for client site travel

Desirable Skills

• Advanced hydrogeology qualifications at postgraduate level
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or Surfer
• Strong data manipulation, handling, and analysis capabilities
• Experience in groundwater site assessments and conceptual model development
• Fieldwork expertise including drilling supervision and sampling
• Familiarity with 3D volumetric modeling platforms like Leapfrog
• Experience with 2D or 3D numerical groundwater flow modeling
