Position Overview

Mater Dei College in Edgewater, Joondalup, Western Australia, invites applications for a full-time, ongoing role as a Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher starting January 1, 2027. The role aims to integrate a passionate and confident educator within the College's HASS department to foster student growth and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Implement diverse and effective teaching tactics to engage students with different learning abilities, ensuring attainment of specific academic targets.
• Create and maintain an inclusive, encouraging, and stimulating classroom atmosphere that supports student development.
• Deliver a compelling HASS curriculum emphasizing critical thinking, practical knowledge application, inquiry-based learning, and ethical considerations.
• Plan and design curricula and programs for HASS classes to enhance student engagement and participation.
• Evaluate student progress following established College guidelines and maintain communication with parents concerning their children's academic performance and wellbeing.
• Adhere to deadlines established by the Head of Learning Area and College leadership team.

Essential Qualifications and Criteria

• The candidate must be adept at teaching all secondary year levels from Year 7 through Year 12.
• Possess a tertiary qualification in Secondary Education, ideally specializing in Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Commitment to creating inclusive, engaging, and high-quality learning environments tailored to various student capabilities.
• Exhibit strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and connect positively with students and parents.
• Dedication to continuous professional development and active participation in co-curricular College activities.
• Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia is required.
• Hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWC).
• Be accredited or progressing toward Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, Religious Education, or Leadership in Catholic Schools.
• Complete annual Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting training as mandated.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Familiarity with the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE courses.
• Well-versed in contemporary educational theories and practices.
• Strong skills in time management, organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
