Role Overview

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's People and Culture team is seeking a Human Resources Officer reporting to the Coordinator People and Culture. This role involves delivering professional, timely, and accurate HR support across designated business units. The position requires close collaboration with managers, employees, and the People and Culture team to ensure efficient HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt advice and support on diverse employment and HR-related topics.
  • Interpret and apply the City's Enterprise Agreement, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Manage recruitment activities, supporting hiring managers and participating in interviews for pivotal roles.
  • Coordinate onboarding, probationary reviews, and exit procedures for employees.
  • Maintain critical employment registers including visa statuses and Working with Children Check compliance.
  • Compile HR-related reports and deliver workforce analytics.
  • Assist in managing workplace grievances, complaints, and employee relations concerns.
  • Support health and safety initiatives, including coordination of drug and alcohol testing when necessary.
  • Foster strong professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Represent the City at career events and assist in developing future recruitment pipelines.
  • Contribute towards continuous refinement and improvement of People and Culture processes and practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in human resources or a similar role within a people-centered business support environment.
  • Preferred qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Relations, or related disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of modern HR functions and methodologies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills enabling engagement with various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build credible and cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and practical problem-solving skills.
  • High professional standards, discretion, and strict adherence to confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must hold a current satisfactory National Police Clearance and a Western Australia 'C' Class driver's license.
