About the Role

Our client, a prominent organisation in the food processing industry, is looking for a Senior HR Manager to lead the human resources team at their Roscrea facility. This role involves a hands-on leadership approach, managing HR operations for over 450 employees in a busy, unionised setting. The position also extends support to two additional satellite sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of employee relations and industrial relations activities, including engagement with trade unions.
  • Oversee recruitment processes, workforce planning, headcount management, and employment permits.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers and supervisors on all HR-related matters.
  • Supervise training, onboarding, employee development, and performance management initiatives.
  • Manage attendance and foster strong employee engagement and communication.
  • Implement HR policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with employment laws consistently across the site.
  • Deliver HR reporting and analytics to assist operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with Health & Safety teams and other operational functions on people-related issues.
  • Support HR projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and business-driven change efforts.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the HR support team effectively.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a relevant human resources qualification.
  • Possesses over 5 years of HR experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
  • Experience in a hands-on, operational HR environment within a large, labour-intensive workforce.
  • Background in manufacturing, food production, retail, or similar sectors.
  • Proficient in managing HR within a unionised workplace, with strong expertise in employee and industrial relations.
  • Skilled in coaching and supporting managerial staff and supervisors.
  • Thorough knowledge of Irish employment legislation.
  • Adopts a practical, solution-oriented approach complemented by excellent communication skills.

Additional Information

This position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of HR functions at a significant operational site and to be an integral member of the senior leadership team. You will have a degree of autonomy to enhance HR practices while collaborating with senior HR and business leaders. The role is based fully onsite in Roscrea, County Tipperary, with working hours generally from 7:30/8:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
