Overview

Charterhouse is assisting a multinational corporation in recruiting a Human Resources Director responsible for overseeing HR functions globally, with a preference for candidates experienced in manufacturing. This position supervises approximately 30 HR professionals in a complex, matrixed environment and demands expertise in establishing new entities and intricate operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee HR operations across regional and country teams, ensuring alignment with Group HR standards for compliance and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in core HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, documentation maintenance, employee relations, performance management, and exit procedures.
  • Develop service standards, operating procedures, escalation channels, and governance frameworks for HR activities in international markets.
  • Create and maintain essential HR infrastructure such as localized handbooks, employment contract templates, policies, approval structures, and HR evaluations.
  • Define minimum HR standards for contracts, probation periods, working hours, leave policies, benefits, disciplinary actions, grievances, termination, and record keeping at the country level.
  • Offer guidance on employee and industrial relations, managing sensitive cases, conducting investigations, overseeing restructuring, exits, and employment disputes.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and external advisors to address local employment risks protecting organizational interests.
  • Partner with regional business leaders on workforce planning, budget allocation, headcount approvals, and HR reporting.
  • Facilitate localization efforts, capability building, and succession planning for critical foreign roles.
  • Coordinate the rollout of global HR policies, systems, processes, and initiatives alongside Global HR teams and Centers of Excellence.
  • Drive practical implementation of HR processes in markets where HR functions are emerging.
  • Manage annual HR activities such as salary and bonus reviews, performance calibration, benefits governance, and manpower cost monitoring.
  • Identify discrepancies in compensation, benefits, or employment practices that could cause financial, compliance, or employee relations risks.
  • Administer international mobility programs including secondments, postings, relocation assistance, expatriate benefits, allowances, and repatriation.
  • Ensure cross-border hiring and mobility procedures comply with regulations, are cost-effective, equitable, and aligned with business strategies.
  • Coach and develop regional and country HR teams to enhance capabilities in HR operations, policy application, employee relations, compliance, and business partnering.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives including surveys and communities of practice to promote knowledge sharing and consistency across global HR teams.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes and HR best practices, assessing their impact and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Enhance HR data accuracy, reporting standards, and governance including dashboards, manpower tracking, and risk updates.
  • Execute additional tasks and projects as directed by the CHRO, including participation in global HR or regional business initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 15 years experience leading global HR strategy and operational functions, particularly involving entity startups within manufacturing environments in emerging markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of international and global labor laws.
  • Proven exceptional leadership skills.
  • Degree holder in Human Resources or a related discipline.
