Overview
The HSE Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives by ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, company standards, and industry best practices. This position contributes to identifying potential hazards in the workplace, conducting thorough inspections, fostering safety awareness, and promoting continual enhancements to sustain a safe and compliant work setting.
Key Duties
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with ARM and/or Client's safety protocols.
- Assist HSE Supervisors in planning and delivering HSE programs along with all safety-related tasks.
- Provide guidance to department managers and supervisors on corrective or preventive measures needed to implement the HSE program effectively.
- Perform ongoing assessments and evaluations of workplace risks.
- Review Job Safety Analysis and Hazard Identification as integral parts of risk assessments.
- Report any habitual safety rule offenders and ensure appropriate disciplinary actions per ARM or client policies.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, property damage, and other safety-related incidents, prepare reports, and ensure implementation of preventative measures.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and prepare monthly HSE statistics reports.
- Regularly carry out safety inspections to confirm adherence to safety programs and highlight deficiencies for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Verify the proper use, maintenance, and effectiveness of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Promote safety awareness among all trades through toolbox talks and awareness sessions, encouraging suggestions for personal safety improvements and equipment/material protection.
- Ensure all site equipment meets suitability criteria and holds valid certificates.
- Follow directives from the HSE Supervisor and comply with all implemented Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, objectives, and procedures.
- Take personal responsibility for self and colleagues' safety and demonstrate environmental care by supporting energy conservation and waste reduction initiatives.
- Serve as the main contact for HSE documentation and support related documents preparation, including questionnaires for projects.
- Coordinate HSE induction training for new personnel pre-employment as notified by HR.
- Oversee inspection, servicing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, Oxy-Fuel cylinders, associated equipment, and plant/vehicle inspections monthly per manufacturer guidelines.
- Fulfill duties as a designated Fire Warden and, when needed, Incident Controller for the premises.
- Maintain a safe working environment within ARM’s operational area.
- Act as a First Aider when required.
- Identify workplace hazards and ensure control measures are implemented.
- Recognize and report near-miss incidents, ensuring that corrective actions are taken.
- Monitor operational activities including inspection status of plants and lifting equipment and keep updates current.
- Complete and track all Safety Observation cards appropriately.
- Perform other HSE-related duties assigned by the Senior HSE Manager or HSE Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess 2 to 4 years of professional experience in the HSE domain, preferably within Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or similar industries, including skills in investigation, inspection, auditing, training, and presentation.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in science or a diploma/degree in safety or a related field.
- Possess professional certifications relevant to the HSE field.
