Job Overview
The Houseperson role involves supporting room attendants and maintaining cleanliness and organization across guest floors and common areas, ensuring an excellent guest environment at Peregrine Hospitality in Savannah, GA.
Key Responsibilities
- Stock linen closets with amenities and supplies, delivering these directly to room attendants.
- Empty room attendant carts, removing soiled linens and trash.
- Promptly respond to and anticipate guests’ service needs and requests.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned guestroom floors, hallways, public areas, stairwells, linen closets, vending spaces, and foyers.
- Apply correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, in compliance with OSHA and hotel standards.
- Strip and service guest rooms/floors according to assignment, priority, and category.
- Remove dirty linens and replace with clean ones following prescribed layouts.
- Clean and maintain ice machines and their surrounding areas to be guest-ready.
- Transport carts loaded with cleaning supplies, amenities, and linens to rooms and attendants efficiently and securely.
- Replace guestroom items as outlined by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Clear trash, dust, debris, and foreign particles from furniture, drapes, mini bars, doors, walls, and fixtures.
- Clean windows in guestrooms and assigned hotel areas.
- Move and arrange furniture and mattresses as needed for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Complete scheduled projects like deep cleaning and floor waxing/polishing.
- Restock rooms with supplies and towels as required.
- Return and restock carts at shift end.
- Turn in any lost and found items encountered to supervisors.
- Adhere to 4 Keys service standards, operational procedures, and safety protocols.
- Follow safety and security guidelines consistently.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and other departments as a team.
- Comply with all policies, aiming to continuously elevate operational standards.
- Maintain attendance and reliability standards as established.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by management.
Skills and Abilities
- Comprehend and align with the hotel's mission, vision, and objectives.
- Efficiently manage priorities and work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail with the capacity to multitask effectively.
- Proficient in communicating and understanding the primary workplace language(s).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Physical ability to push, pull, bend, squat, and lift regularly up to 50 pounds.
- Follow safety requirements related to personal protective equipment (PPE) and the use of tools and equipment.
- Execute job duties with precision, speed, and accuracy, including prioritizing and organizing tasks.
- Remain composed during problem-solving and make sound judgments.
- Follow instructions attentively, understand guest service expectations, and work collaboratively with teammates.
- Endure various physical movements throughout work areas including standing and walking for long durations.
- Communicate clearly with guests, management, and coworkers both orally and in writing.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 3 months of experience in housekeeping or related roles.
- Willingness to work flexible shift schedules according to business needs.
Compensation
Hourly pay rate: $15 per hour.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- Occasional long and flexible working hours may be required.
- Capability to lift or carry weights up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to hear, understand, and communicate effectively in person and over the phone with guests, staff, and vendors.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Physical flexibility to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, and kneel.
