Key Responsibilities

• Clean and polish furniture, counters, shelving, walls, and window/door ledges maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
• Sanitize sinks, toilets, and bathing areas.
• Restock supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and washrooms to ensure availability.
• Empty and clean trash bins, transferring waste to compactors or designated pickup zones.
• Maintain food service standards by ensuring meal appearance, temperature, portion sizes, and timely delivery meet department criteria.
• Report equipment malfunctions or temperature irregularities immediately to supervisors and take corrective measures.
• Stay informed of any changes related to menus or resident needs on a daily basis.
• Properly receive and store food items.
• Prepare carts for fluid distribution, snacks, and night meals for residents and assist in their delivery as required.
• Convey resident menu feedback through temperature audits, feedback forms, or verbal reports to management.
• Sort laundry by type (linens, mops, personal clothing) and operate washing machines using correct formulas.
• Use dryers and extractors efficiently, setting controls for drying needs and unloading promptly.
• Organize clean laundry, count linens per quota, label personal clothing, and deliver clean items to resident areas using carts.
• Inspect laundry items for damage and forward those needing repairs to a seamstress.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

• Completion of High School or GED diploma.
• At least one year of experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry services preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a valuable asset.
• Successful candidates must pass a clear Criminal Record Check and, if applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
• Previous experience in housekeeping, laundry, food services, or long-term care is considered advantageous.
• Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-paced work environment.
• Flexibility to work varied hours including days, weekends, and holidays.
