Housekeeping Support Services Attendant

Job Overview

Shannex invites compassionate, honest, professional, and safety-conscious individuals to join its Parkland Clayton Park team in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a Housekeeping (Support Services Attendant). Key Responsibilities

• Clean and polish furniture, counters, shelves, walls, and window and door ledges.
• Maintain hygiene in sinks, toilets, and bathing areas.
• Restock supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and restrooms.
• Empty and clean trash containers, disposing waste properly in designated areas.
• Ensure food quality, presentation, dining environment, and service meet department standards.
• Monitor meals for attractiveness, correct temperature, accurate portions, and timely service.
• Report equipment or temperature issues promptly and take corrective action as needed.
• Keep updated with daily menu changes and resident information.
• Properly receive and store food items.
• Prepare carts for fluid passes, snacks, and night lunches; assist with distribution when necessary.
• Provide menu feedback from residents to management through various channels.
• Sort laundry by category: linens, mops, personal clothing.
• Operate washing machines using correct formulas, dryers, and extractors effectively.
• Organize clean laundry, count linens per quota, and rack items by resident name tags.
• Collect soiled laundry and distribute clean laundry within the facility using carts.
• Inspect laundry for damage and forward items requiring repair to seamstress.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of High School or GED.
• At least one year of experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry preferred.
• Valid CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.
• Must obtain clear Criminal Record Check and, if applicable, Vulnerable Sector Check before employment.
• Experience in housekeeping, laundry, or food services is advantageous.
• Background working in long-term care settings is beneficial.
• Able to learn quickly and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including days, weekends, and holidays.
