Job description
Overview
Working under the supervision of the Executive and Assistant Executive Housekeepers and within established hotel protocols, the Housekeeping Manager provides functional support across departments, interacts with guests and community members, and coordinates with various hotel sections. This role is responsible for overseeing housekeeping and laundry operations to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and furnishings to meet guest satisfaction standards. The manager will also represent the Executive Housekeeper during their absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to preparing the housekeeping budget and assist in controlling departmental expenses.
- Supervise and assign tasks to supervisory and non-supervisory staff.
- Ensure prompt, courteous service from housekeeping personnel to guests, with special attention to VIPs and repeat guests.
- Communicate housekeeping-related matters to relevant departments, such as Engineering, Front Office, and Food & Beverage.
- Promote effective employee relations and assist with personnel tasks including interviewing, evaluation, and counseling.
- Identify training needs and support the development and implementation of training programs.
- Maintain open lines of communication with executive leadership regarding housekeeping matters.
- Monitor and control housekeeping procedures concerning lost and found, key control, security, and emergency protocols to safeguard personnel and guests.
- Oversee the quality of housekeeping and laundry services.
- Schedule regular inspection of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and guest satisfaction.
- Respond promptly to guest complaints ensuring effective resolution.
- Inspect housekeeping areas routinely, including both occupied and vacant rooms, ensuring upkeep of furnishings and equipment.
- Assess staff appearance, discipline, and performance, taking corrective action when needed.
- Supervise external contractors to ensure contract adherence.
- Control consumption of guest supplies.
- Collaborate on routine cleaning schedules such as spring cleaning initiatives.
- Act as the Executive Housekeeper during their absence as assigned.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably holds a Bachelor’s degree or higher education qualification in Hotel Management, Business Administration, or an equivalent field.
- Possesses a minimum of two years of housekeeping experience with management responsibilities.
