Location Details
Situated on the tranquil east coast of Mauritius beside a lagoon ideal for water sports, the resort is a green sanctuary offering dramatic views. It features stylish villas and residences with private pools and gardens, including accommodations for resident giant tortoises. Guests enjoy activities like Indian Ocean exploration, unlimited golf on two renowned courses, a celebrated over-water spa, and several dining options including an off-property beach bar and restaurant. Opened in 2008, the resort includes 90 one-bedroom villas, a Presidential Suite, 45 multi-bedroom residential villas, five dining venues, tennis courts, and a fitness center.
Role Purpose
The Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible for organizing and directing shift operations within the housekeeping department effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day core processes for the housekeeping office.
- Support supervisors, team members, and managers in meeting daily operational goals.
- Lead training sessions when required, uphold high standards, encourage teamwork, and serve as a role model.
- Participate actively in all training programs.
- Provide constructive feedback related to operations, employees, and customer interactions to management.
- Exhibit warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine care toward guests and internal clients, embodying the Golden Rule.
- Adhere strictly to hotel policies, including code of conduct and grooming standards.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods with hands-on support.
- Engage in briefings and meetings to facilitate clear communication between staff and management.
- Maintain a tidy and safe working environment.
- Perform additional assigned tasks as needed.
- Coordinate third-party service providers and promote genuine hospitality within the work area.
- Market hotel services and products effectively.
- Anticipate guest needs and handle inquiries decisively to guarantee satisfaction, adding special touches when opportunities arise.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment and machinery; report defects and incidents promptly.
- Be proficient with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) procedures and trained in accident response.
- Manage guest and internal calls, coordinating with relevant departments for timely service.
- Assist with departmental administrative duties including inventory checks and support in the yearly ordering process.
- Follow up on maintenance requests within assigned areas.
- Prepare and submit routine reports; ensure thorough shift handovers.
- Keep office and storage areas clean and organized at all times.
- Control and monitor amenities inventory, ensuring pantries are stocked and tidy with correct requisition practices.
- Oversee and follow up purchase orders and delivery schedules.
- Conduct monthly inventories and ensure accuracy.
- Communicate promptly any messages to managers, supervisors, and staff.
- Assign room attendants fairly according to sections and manage "Do Not Disturb" room policies in compliance with hotel standards.
- Ensure staff complies with all health, safety, and hygiene protocols including Lead with Care and Covid-19 policies.
- Monitor and complete assigned pending tasks, reporting issues to management.
- Perform daily inspections of at least six occupied villas across sections adhering to hotel standards and participate in benchmark testing.
- Prepare housekeeping rosters for approval, monitor attendance, and manage payroll documentation and overtime approvals.
- Monitor daily staffing and occupancy levels to optimize manning.
- Oversee task completions, report unresolved matters, and coordinate guest preferences updates before arrival.
- Maintain close follow-up on "Do Not Disturb" rooms, arrivals, and supervisor handovers daily.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferred: Technical education in Hospitality Management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the housekeeping department of a five-star resort or hotel.
- Proficiency in English and French, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Excellent computer skills with familiarity in PMS systems such as Fidelio, Opera, and Birchstreet.
- Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
- Ability to multitask effectively and manage various responsibilities simultaneously.
