Job Overview
Based out of a premier Horizon North camp facility, this role follows a regular pattern of two weeks on-site followed by two weeks off, with 10-hour workdays. Transportation to the site is provided from a designated pickup location. The position is supervised by the Head Housekeeper and Lodge Manager and focuses on maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards throughout the facilities. This opportunity is for upcoming placements at a Dexterra project in Moosonee, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily walk-throughs to clean 30 or more rooms depending on client occupancy.
- Provide comprehensive housekeeping services in guest rooms and common hallways.
- Make beds and change linens weekly, or more frequently if needed.
- Vacuum and dust all furniture, blinds, and hallway areas.
- Clean, scrub, and sanitize bathrooms, windows, and mirrors thoroughly.
- Dispose of garbage, trash, and recycling from all sleeping areas appropriately.
- Wash, fold, and manage towels, linens, and bedding.
- Handle loading and unloading of laundry and linen trucks along with supplies.
- Keep accurate inventory records of bedding in the lodge; assist with stock monitoring and report shortages to the Lodge Manager.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- At least six months of experience in janitorial or housekeeping roles.
- Familiarity with standard cleaning protocols, chemicals, products, and equipment.
- Preferred experience in remote lodge settings, hotels, or institutional environments; commercial cleaning background is an asset.
- Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, yet an effective team player.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended durations and lift items up to 35 pounds.
- Willingness and ability to pass the mandatory WHMIS certification with a score of 80% or higher.
