Position Overview

The Hotel Room Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning, restocking, and maintaining hotel rooms as assigned, ensuring each room meets the hotel's standards of hygiene and presentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain and prioritize the list of rooms for cleaning based on management instructions, giving special attention to early cleaning requests.
  • Check cleaning cart inventory and replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain all assigned cleaning tools and equipment in good order.
  • Knock and announce presence before entering guest rooms, returning later if the room is occupied.
  • Remove soiled linens, towels, bedspreads, and blankets, replacing them with fresh items.
  • Make beds neatly and stock towels and washcloths in accordance with hotel policies.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchenette or coffee-preparation areas following hotel guidelines.
  • Wipe room surfaces and clean mirrors thoroughly.
  • Vacuum floors and dispose of trash appropriately.
  • Restock complimentary coffee, snacks, and toiletries according to checklist and hotel standards.
  • Conduct a final inspection to confirm each room meets hotel quality standards.
  • Notify supervisors promptly about room availability and report suspicious activities to security personnel.
  • Handle soiled linens by laundering, including operating washers/dryers and folding linens as needed.
  • Report maintenance or repair requirements to the maintenance department.
  • Deliver lost and found items to the designated area if guests have checked out.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Abilities

  • Highly detail-oriented and thorough in work execution.
  • Maintains discretion and respects guest privacy at all times.
  • Demonstrates consistent commitment to high-quality standards.
  • Engages pleasantly and courteously with guests.
  • Possesses sufficient education and literacy to read product labels and communicate work-related needs.
  • Basic English communication skills preferred for reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently bending, pulling, and pushing.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds when necessary.
  • Availability to work on a seven-day rotating schedule, including occasional afternoon shifts.
  • Exposure to workplace hazards such as slipping, tripping, dirt, humidity, temperature variations, immersion in water, harsh cleaning agents, and frequent hand washing is expected.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background and drug screening tests.
