Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan provides a comforting, supportive environment for families with hospitalized children, facilitating healing through compassion and community support. They offer essential resources such as meals, wellness programs, and sibling assistance to lessen financial and emotional burdens during medical care. Their supportive homes encourage families to focus on their children's well-being in a nurturing setting backed by volunteers, donors, and community partners. With new houses opening in Prince Albert and Regina, the organization continues expanding its positive community impact.

Role Overview

The House Service Associate ensures that families find immaculate, welcoming accommodations throughout their stay. Duties include preparing and cleaning guest rooms after checkouts, maintaining shared spaces to high cleanliness standards, managing laundry and supplies, and addressing various housekeeping and maintenance needs. The role requires collaboration with Family Service and other staff to prioritize and maintain room readiness while engaging compassionately with families facing medical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare guestrooms upon family check-out and for scheduled refreshes, meeting RMHC Saskatchewan cleanliness and sanitization requirements.
  • Keep common areas such as washrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and shared spaces clean, orderly, and inviting.
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks including walls, windows, appliances, blinds, and underneath furniture.
  • Coordinate with Family Service on room availability and special cleaning needs.
  • Independently manage daily priorities to ensure optimal readiness of guest rooms and common spaces.
  • Handle onsite laundry duties and keep guest linens and supplies organized and restocked.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies inventory and report needs to Facility Coordinator.
  • Support waste management protocols including recycling and organics removal following safety procedures.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and vacuum bags, reporting significant issues as needed.
  • Assist with Food Programs, volunteer coordination, and other operational tasks to support the House.
  • Engage with families with kindness and discretion, offering practical assistance while respecting their situations.
  • Communicate relevant observations regarding families or facility conditions to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and volunteers to maintain smooth House operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in housekeeping, preferably in hospitality, healthcare, long-term care, or commercial cleaning settings with high standards.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning and sanitization methods with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to perform active tasks throughout shifts, including lifting up to 40 pounds and moving furniture.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to achieve established standards without continuous supervision.
  • Preferred knowledge of WHMIS and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety regulations; training will be provided as needed.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous.
  • Successful completion of a police record check before hiring.
  • Willingness to work rotating schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel.
  • Demonstrated compassion, reliability, adaptability, excellent communication, and teamwork skills.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive wage with annual reviews and paid time off according to employment status.
  • Access to health and wellness benefits along with an Employee Assistance Program, where eligible.
  • Opportunities for retirement savings through RRSP matching for qualifying employees.
  • Comprehensive onboarding, training, and continued personal development offerings.
  • The rewarding experience of supporting families during critical medical times.
