Job description
Role Summary
The Hotel General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, managing financial performance, and leading team efforts to maintain operational excellence.
Key Duties
- Supervise all daily hotel activities and overall business results.
- Formulate operational plans, establish budgets, and set performance objectives.
- Oversee key departments including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, sales, and support services.
- Track and analyze occupancy rates, revenue streams, profit margins, expenses, and key performance indicators.
- Guarantee high-quality guest service and satisfaction levels.
- Lead, coach, and nurture management and operational staff.
- Handle staff recruitment, scheduling, performance assessment, and workforce management.
- Manage financial controls including budgeting, procurement, and cost management.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to drive revenue and enhance market presence.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with guests, suppliers, business partners, and key clientele.
- Ensure adherence to company policies as well as health, safety, hygiene, and local regulatory requirements.
- Address guest complaints and resolve any service or operational issues swiftly.
- Oversee property upkeep, cleanliness, security, and overall service quality assurance.
- Prepare and deliver regular operational reports, forecasts, and management briefings.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, hotel performance, and profitability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Significant background in hotel management or senior roles within hospitality leadership.
- Thorough understanding of hotel operations and high guest service standards.
- Proven experience managing diverse departments and sizeable teams.
- Solid command of financial aspects including budgets, revenue streams, and costs.
- Knowledgeable in revenue management, sales, marketing strategies, and customer experience enhancement.
- Effective leadership, excellent communication, strong negotiation skills, and adept problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with Property Management Systems (PMS), Point of Sale (POS) systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and other hotel software.
- Good grasp of healthcare, safety, hygiene, and hospitality regulatory requirements.
- Experience in UAE or Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) hospitality sectors is a plus.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks and operational complexities simultaneously.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to maintain long-term relationships.
- Professional demeanor, organized approach, a proactive mindset, and result-driven attitude.
