Job description

Position Overview

This permanent full-time role is based at the HNELHD Mental Health Centre in Waratah, NSW, offering 38 hours per week with shifts of 8 hours scheduled between 7:30am and 6pm, including weekends and public holidays. The hourly wage is $31.42 plus 12% superannuation and salary packaging benefits.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning tasks in clinical and non-clinical areas following the designated Service Plan and NSW Health Cleaning Standards.
  • Utilize cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, ladders, and scrubbers to clean surfaces, fixtures, and furniture.
  • Ensure immediate patient environments, including infectious and isolation rooms, are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
  • Handle removal of soiled linen and waste to designated collection points, along with manual handling duties like moving equipment, pushing trolleys, and mopping floors.
  • Maintain accurate records related to cleaning activities and manage consumables ordering.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate openly to meet service quality standards.
  • Participate in ongoing staff meetings and training sessions during working hours.
  • Comply with NSW Health policies and directives, and follow instructions from Environmental Services Managers and supervisors.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong teamwork orientation with a commitment to delivering quality cleaning services.
  • Previous cleaning experience in healthcare, commercial, or industrial environments, or proven capability to fulfill the role's requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with workplace health and safety protocols, including safe manual handling and infection control measures.
  • Effective time management skills to prioritize and organize workload efficiently.
  • Basic computer literacy to complete mandatory face-to-face and online training modules.
