Horticulturist

Position Overview

The Horticulturist is responsible for maintaining a diverse range of live plants and flowers aboard the vessel, ensuring their health and aesthetic appeal. This role involves executing both administrative and operational tasks aligned with the shipboard integrated pest management plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform meticulous care and maintenance of various live ornamental and indoor plants throughout the ship.
• Utilize gardening tools and apply insecticides and fertilizers correctly to promote plant health.
• Implement pest management strategies as outlined in the integrated pest management plan.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess 2 to 3 years of experience in plant care within luxury settings such as 4 or 5-star hotels or other prestigious public venues.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of horticultural needs for ornamental plants, including proper handling of insecticides, fertilizers, and gardening equipment.
• Familiarity with both outdoor and indoor plant species, their requirements, and care protocols.
• Completion of high school education or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Understand the application methods and safety precautions related to horticultural or agricultural chemicals and pesticides.
