Role Summary

The Home Delivery Driver position supports a distinct U.S. Navy initiative on Diego Garcia island. The driver must operate vehicles safely and efficiently to provide timely deliveries, following safety measures and regulations, while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to all transport standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate government and contractor vehicles with care to deliver goods as per schedules.
• Carry out deliveries to residential and other designated sites, focusing on accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
• Monitor and confirm delivery timetables and make sure all items reach the proper destinations.
• Employ correct techniques for loading, securing, and unloading cargo safely and intact.
• Maintain valid driver's license compliant with DMV or foreign license equivalency standards.
• Hold and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) if operating vehicles larger than pickups.
• Abide by all laws, policies, and safety norms related to vehicle operation and road safety.
• Conduct mandatory vehicle inspections to verify road safety before use.
• Follow safety protocols including defensive driving and preventive maintenance.
• Report any vehicle faults promptly to appropriate authorities for repair.
• Keep detailed records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle checks as required.
• Deliver excellent customer service, resolving queries professionally and swiftly.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license that meets DMV standards or has equivalent foreign credentials.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for drivers of larger vehicles beyond pickups.
• Proven ability to safely drive various vehicle types, including commercial trucks if applicable.
• Strong time management skills to meet scheduled delivery deadlines.
• Attention to detail for maintaining accurate delivery and inspection documentation.
• Capability to load, secure, and safely transport goods following safety guidelines.
• Successful completion and maintenance of necessary training and certifications, including Customer Service, CPR, First Aid, AED, and local emergency response with yearly refreshers.
• Possession of a valid passport with at least one year remaining at hiring and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to obtain necessary country visas in line with U.S. Department of State guidance.
• Compliance with medical standards and contract requirements for deployment duration.
• Capability to secure and maintain facility credentials and clearances.
• Proficiency in English sufficient to perform contract duties and understand emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in remote, austere locations outside the contiguous United States with multinational teams.
• Understanding of military or government logistics and delivery protocols.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance to ensure operational safety.

Working Environment

The position is based on Diego Garcia island, a remote overseas location serving U.S. government interests. The work involves varied environments such as offices, warehouses, ports, airfields, and outdoor sites with exposure to challenging weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Shifts may include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational needs.

Physical Requirements

The job requires physical activities including extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, lifting weights up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally. Candidates must satisfy medical, security, and deployment criteria for assignment in a remote overseas location.
