About the Role

Are you someone who makes a meaningful impact in people's lives? We are seeking a dedicated Home Care Worker to support elderly individuals in maintaining their independence and wellbeing in Nelson Bay and nearby areas. This position requires a minimum of three months experience in a similar professional caregiving capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general housekeeping duties such as making beds and cleaning floors (mopping and vacuuming).
  • Manage laundry tasks including washing, folding, and ironing.
  • Prepare meals and assist with grocery shopping for clients.
  • Support clients with personal care routines including assisting with getting out of bed, showering, dressing, and medication management.
  • Help clients with mobility and therapy objectives, including complex care for those with high care needs, such as dementia patients.
  • Offer social and emotional support to improve client well-being.
  • Transport clients to appointments or lifestyle activities as needed.
  • Provide respite assistance for family carers to have breaks or attend other activities.

Candidate Profile

  • Someone who values variety in daily work and enjoys engaging in a variety of tasks.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality care services.
  • Experienced in cultivating positive relationships with clients and their families.
  • Resilient and able to move past minor daily frustrations such as traffic delays or client moods.
  • Capable of working autonomously while knowing when to seek guidance from management.

Requirements

  • Minimum three months experience in a comparable care role, skilled in personal care, manual handling, hoist use, and medication assistance.
  • Possession of a valid Australian Driver's Licence and ownership of a reliable, insured, roadworthy vehicle.
